Milking the Cows

Milking

  1. Check that Dosatron isn’t clicking incessantly and that the drum is not empty.
  2. Close the 2 milk pump drain taps at end of pit.
  3. Inside dairy close off clamp at the bottom of the filter
  4. Make sure cooler tap is on i.e. the handle should lie along the pipe.
  5. Turn inlet vat valves to ‘On’ position
  6. Put bung into hole on the side of the vacuum cylinder and turn both switches at the wall on to start the machines. 
  7. Start milking . AT NO TIME IS ANY BODY TO PUT THEIR HEAD UNDER THE KICK RAIL.
  8. After first row is cupped on check that there is no milk going down the drain.
  9. While milking if cell sensors show 4 red lights spray cow with a blue line so she can be checked before milking next time.
  10. Check any cows with blue lines manually before putting on cups.
  11. Take note of any leg bands and milk accordingly.
  12. Teat spray each row before letting them go.
  13. Spray the cups to moisten.
  14. Put up cups onto jetters, cleaning as you do this.
  15. Wash plant as instructions.
  16. Hose shed and yards each morning and shed only at night. Pay attention that rails and back wall are washed as well.
  17. Pull cups down, hang them upside down make sure drain taps at end of pit are are open.
  18. Shut dairy platform exit gates.

Use of Backing Gate: the gate must be able to seen at all times when turned on. If you are unable to see from pit you will need to get up the steps and look.
